Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect:

  • The data shown in the comments form

  • The visitor’s IP address

  • The browser user agent string (to help with spam detection)

Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included.
Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images.

Cookies

  • Comments
    If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies.

    • Purpose: Convenience so you don’t have to re-enter details for future comments.

    • Duration: 1 year

  • Login Page
    When you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies.

    • Contains: No personal data

    • Discarded: When you close your browser

  • Login & Display Preferences
    When you log in:

    • Login cookies last 2 days

    • Screen options cookies last 1 year

    • Selecting “Remember Me” keeps you logged in for 2 weeks

    • Logging out removes login cookies

  • Article Editing/Publishing
    When you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved in your browser:

    • Contains: No personal data (only the post ID)

    • Expires: 1 day

  • Comments: Retained indefinitely, including metadata, to recognize and approve follow-ups automatically.

  • Registered Users: Personal information in your profile is stored until you delete it.

    • You can view, edit, or delete your personal information anytime (except username).

    • Website administrators can also view and edit this information.

Your Rights Over Your Data

If you have an account or have left comments, you can:

  • Request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you

  • Request deletion of your personal data (except for data we must retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes)

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
